Event Background
Mount Tai is not only one of China’s most famous mountains, but also a world-renowned mountain. Its cultural and natural heritage is a precious treasure for all humanity. In 1987, Mount Tai was listed as China’s first World Cultural and Natural Heritage site by UNESCO. In the same year, the first Mount Tai International Mountain Climbing Festival was held, becoming one of the earliest climbing sports events in China and abroad. It has been successfully held for 36 consecutive years and extends to various fields such as economy, trade, tourism, technology, and culture. The 38th Mount Tai International Mountain Climbing Festival consists of the opening ceremony and a series of activities in culture, tourism, sports, and trade. It incorporates elements of cultural and creative products, sports competitions, modern technology, regional cooperation, and image promotion, fully leveraging the leading brand role of Mount Tai. Through multi-point coordination and participation across the region, it aims to expand cultural tourism consumption and provide strong support for turning Tai’an into an international tourist resort.
On 5 September 2024, Tai’an Municipal People’s Government will hold the opening ceremony of the 38th Mount Tai International Mountain Climbing Festival under the theme “Ascend Mount Tai and view the World”. From September 4th to 7th, Network of International Culturalink Entities of Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Shandong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and Tai’an Municipal People’s Government will jointly host international cultural tourism exchange activities of the 38th Mount Tai International Mountain Climbing Festival.
